In order to share with the audience, the experience of volunteering in different parts of the world, Ms. Chia-Li Chen, who has many years of experience in volunteering in Cambodia and Nepal, was invited to speak on April 21 at Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages. She shared with the audience how she decided to start serving in these areas and how difficult and persistent she was during the process.

At the beginning, Ms. Chen shared her experience of her first visit to Cambodia in 2005 where there was an extreme lack of supplies. But even so, the thirst for knowledge of the local school children could not be dampened. In order to help those children in need, Ms. Chen started to hold fundraising concerts and charity sales.

Ms. Chen described how, by chance, she heard local school children humming a popular Cambodian song at the time, and she immediately fell in love with it. The song described a man and woman who were in love but are from poor regions of Cambodia. They were forced to choose to be with another person with better means because their family had a cow. Such a situation might be unimaginable in Taiwan today, but there are indeed people in the world who need care and help.

Lastly, Ms. Chia-Li Chen urged the audience that it is not difficult to help others, as long as you start with a small wish and take action, you can help others and meet like-minded people along the wa
