2020/07/09 義大醫院志工新契機，服務學習雙贏策略 New Volunteering Opportunities at E-Da Hospital: A Win-win Approach for Service Learning

(2020/07/08 高雄 By 季慕華)文藻WHC-USR 計畫團隊一行八人，在計劃主持人廖俊芳教授帶領下，拜訪義大醫院合作夥伴，並分別與醫教部、國際醫療部及社工部討論下學期USR專業服務內容的規劃與變化。與會陣容龐大，包括教育副院長楊生湳教授，醫教部梁正隆部長及陳素婷副理， 一般醫學科何立鈞主任及陳溢松醫師， 國際醫療部湯道謙部長及陳嘉卿高專，社工部主任林宜鋒與駱佳琦督導。與會夥伴都是長期協助文藻師生的關鍵人物，期間洪誌隆副行政長也特別來問候並鼓勵。

這是新冠肺炎疫情爆發以來，志工服務全面停止後，團隊首度來到義大醫院，討論重啟專業志工服務的可能性。義大醫院與文藻雙方針對過去口譯志工服務進行反思、討論與檢討，口譯志工洪庭蓮同學也提供她口譯現場經驗之建議，期待做為日後修正。討論最終凝聚共識，以病人身、心、靈、全人照護為目標，將由台籍志工與外籍醫學生組成跨國團隊進行專業服務學習，下學期將由翁一珍教授統整課程，陳泰良教授指導IT與App應用，周則銘教授與王慧娟教授指導口譯，季慕華老師指導筆譯。期待學子們能夠跨出自己的舒適圈，從服務當中提昇跨文化溝通之能力。

(2020/07/08 Kaohsiung/By Yolanda) A group of 8 delegates from WHC-USR, led by Project Investigator, Prof. Melody Liao, visited partners at E-Da Hospital and discussed changes in service sites and planning for contents of USR professional development projects respectively with Medical Education Division and Department of International Medical Affairs.

A big meeting was held with VIP participants, including Vice-Superintendent San-nan Yang, Director Cheng-loong Liang and Assistant Manager Su-ting Chen of Medical Education Division, Director Li-chun Ho and Dr.Yi-sung Chen of Department of General Medicine, Director James Tang and Senior Specialist Helen Chen of Department of International Medical Affairs, Director Yi-feng Lin and Supervisor Chia-chi Luo of Department of Social Work. They are key personnel whose long-term assistance Wenzao faculty and students have benefited from. During the visit, Vice Chief Administrative Officer, Dr. Daryl Hung especially came to offer greetings and support.

After the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic and the suspension of volunteering service, this was the first visit made by the WHC-USR team, exploring possibilities for volunteer service. Both sides reflected, discussed and reviewed in detail the problems and solutions for healthcare interpreting that occurred in the earlier service sites. Ms. Tin-lian Hung, an excellent former interpreting volunteer, also offered suggestions based on her on-site experience for the USR team to make further adjustment. Consensus was reached as holistic care for patients through physical, psychological, spiritual, and social approaches was taken as priority, with one part conducted through cross-cultural communication by professional teams of both Taiwanese volunteers and international medical students in service learning. A comprehensive planning to meet actual needs and training purposes will be completed later by Prof. Janet Weng in terms of course design, by Prof. Tai-liang Chen for IT and APP assistance, by Prof. Peter Zhou and Prof. Frances Wang for interpreting, and by Ms. Yolanda Chi for translation, with learning objectives targeting on students to move out of their comfort zone and to acquire enhanced cross-cultural communication competence from service.
