防疫不停學，因應疫情這學期的教師社群改採視訊會議(zoom meeting)的方式進行，現場只有講者、兩位主持人以及工作夥伴們，雖然有點遺憾無法和講者面對面請益，本次活動仍吸引約30位老師報名，並在報到領餐後與我們空中相會。

這一堂星期二的課，WHC-USR團隊有幸邀請到溫馨病人之友社的王素玲社長，透過和大家分享他們在醫院志工服務的志業與多個生命故事來談論病痛與死亡。 溫馨病人之友社，目前在高雄市榮總、長庚、高醫、大同、義大等醫院及養護中心等都設有祈禱室，每天都有志工輪值服務，以“學習聖文生對病患的服務，實現基督愛小兄弟的誡命”的精神，陪伴、撫慰生病者，除了協助病人緩解身體上的痛苦，同時也提供病人及家屬心理及靈性上的支持及照顧。 為了連結文藻學生與服務場域，廖俊芳教授在Q&A的時候更提出是否能讓學生志工們有機會連結已有30年歷史的溫馨病人之友社，王社長表示非常樂見這樣的服務方向！因為在他們服務的過程中，確實發現有許多外籍看護是有許多靈性上的需求並且尋求幫助，所以翻譯溝通是非常需要的。

今天的課程或許不足以讓我們參透生死，但希望藉著分享，我們可以去學習生命的智慧與反思生命的意義。

For non-stop learning during the epidemic prevention period, our first teachers’ community meeting this semester was held through video-conferencing. At the real venue, there were only the guest speaker, two hosts and a few colleagues. Although it was a pity that participants were unable to communicate face-to-face with the speaker, our activity successfully attracted about 30 teachers in number, who met us on air after reporting and receiving lunch boxes for an enjoyable noon meeting in their own offices.

This Tuesday, WHC-USR invited Prof. Suling Wang, Chair of a volunteering association of “Warm Friends of Patients” to share stories of the volunteers at the hospitals, including their calling and experience of pains and deaths. “Warm Friends of Patients” has established prayer rooms in Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital, Chang Gung Hospital, Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital, Ta-tung Hospital, E-Da Hospital and several care centers, where volunteers take shifts to serve after the spirit of St. Vincent and to fulfill the commandment of extending love of Christ to the “little brothers.” They accompany and soothe the diseased, and in addition to relieving the physical pains of the patients, they offer patients and their family members emotional and spiritual support and care.

For Wenzao students to approach real sites for service, Prof. Melody Liao inquired during the Q & A session of the possibilities of establishing links with this longstanding association of over-30 years of development. Chair Wang was glad to see the trend in service learning because in the process of their service, they actually found that numerous foreign caregivers sought help as well as spiritual support and as a result, assistance with interpreting and communication would be in great demand.

Today’s lesson may not be sufficient to help us gain insight into life and death, but hopefully through this precious sharing we are able to gain wisdom and reflect on the meanings of life.
