Video-conferencing with KKS, Cambodia

Non-stop care for Cambodia in the face of Covid-19! 關愛柬埔寨，不因疫情而停歇!

(Kaohsiung by 季慕華) WHC-USR團隊和柬埔寨綠色陽傘執行長Sokrath師父召開視訊會議，討論國際志工計畫的替代活動，特別是為KKS 學校老師們辦一系列的線上教學工作坊。今年因為新冠病毒疫情，志工團隊無法如原訂計畫到柬埔寨進行衛教英語營，但仍會持續延伸關懷和協助，以USR旗山國小營隊為範例教材，開設線上教學工作坊，並致贈防疫急需的口罩套給KKS師生，由台柬雙方小朋友建立起溫暖的跨國友情。

文藻方面有廖俊芳教授、翁一珍教授、陳泰良教授、梅馨云老師、季慕華老師共聚一堂，首度和Sokrath師父空中相會。翁一珍教授首先展示我方將致贈給師生的MIT口罩套，幫他們共度防疫，每份口罩套還將附上使用說明，和一張台灣學生所寫的加油卡，鼓勵收到的人這場防疫戰上絕不孤單。在KKS方面，教師也開始參與使用虛擬教室進行教學，文藻老師們可提供線上教學經驗，以及特別規劃的師資訓練，以本學期5月16~17日在旗山國小舉行的衛教英語營為範例教材。其他討論包含籌組寒假國際志工營隊2021以及綠色洋傘的青年計畫。下次視訊會議將邀請更多老師參與。

(Kaohsiung by Yolanda) WHC-USR team and Ven. Hour Sokrath, Executive Director of Green Umbrella in Cambodia, held a video conference to discuss alternatives for the earlier planned international volunteer projects, especially the possibility for a series of workshops for teachers of Karuna Kumar School (KKS). Due to Covid-19 epidemic, our team will not be able to go to Cambodia this year to conduct the health education English camp but will continue to extend our care and assistance through virtual “train the trainers” workshops based on materials from our USR English Camp at Cishan Elementary School as models and a delivery of the most needed materials for epidemic prevention— the mask covers made in Taiwan for KKS teachers and students, with which a heart-warming cross-national friendship will be established between children of Cambodia and Taiwan.

On Wenzao’s side, Professor Melody Liao, Professor Janet Weng, Professor Tai-liang Chen, Ms. Angie Mei and Ms. Yolanda Chi gathered for this first online meeting with honorable Sokrath. Profess Janet Weng began by showing how to use the mask covers for KKS students and teachers as part of our efforts to help them during the trying times of the epidemic. Each mask cover would include instructions on how to use it and a greeting card from a student in Taiwan to encourage the receiver of that he or she was not alone in this battle against the disease. On KKS’s side, teachers were also involved in using virtual classrooms to conduct their teaching, which Wenzao teachers would be able to assist by offering online teaching experiences and a specially designed “train the trainers” workshop with materials from our English Camp in Cishan Elementary School during May16-17 as models. Further discussion included possibilities for organizing a volunteer camp during winter vacation 2021 and for Youth Program of Green Umbrella. More teachers would be invited to join discussion in the next video conference.
