對抗武漢肺炎的絕技—邱益煊部長在醫療前線的分享 Most Effective Weapons against Covid-19 - - Findings Shared by Dr. Yee-hsuan Chiou at the Medical Frontier

(高雄 文藻外語大學)在疫情緊繃，醫護人員疲於奔命之際， 高雄榮總兒童醫學部邱益煊部長，特別應邀來文藻演講，題目為「嚴重特殊傳染性肺炎」，也就是俗稱的「武漢肺炎」。邱醫生90分鐘的談話毫無冷場，步步緊湊，從大家最關切的新聞，追蹤病例與來源，細說病毒特性與症狀，並和先前的SARS和MERS比較，同學們上了一堂精彩的跨領域醫學專業課程，彌補本學期未能親赴醫院學習及擔任志工的遺憾。此外，邱部長更展現醫療學者致力於維護民眾健康的風範，和鍥而不捨的研究精神，分享現階段對武漢肺炎的診斷與治療結果，最後以歷史宏觀審視冠狀病毒未來之發展，消除大家不必要的疑慮和不安。邱部長也利用這個機會，教導如何正確使用口罩與「洗手七式」，為文藻新一屆的國際志工，作了最佳的衛教實作hands-on示範和種子培訓train the trainer。

While Covid-19 is getting on everyone’s nerves and keeping medical personnel busier than ever, Dr. Yee-hsuan Chiou, Director of Children’s Hospital, Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital, arrived at Wenzao University to deliver a lecture on Covid-19, also known as Wuhan Pneumonia. The 90-minute lecture was filled with such highlights as news reports, tracing the cases and the origin, details about the characteristics and symptoms of this novel coronavirus, a comparison with the earlier outbreaks of SARS and MERS, providing Wenzao students a brilliant cross-disciplinary learning in the medical field to make up for the loss of opportunities of learning and volunteering in the hospital. In addition, Dr. Chiou revealed dedication of medical scholars to guarding the health of the general public and to incessant research. He shared findings in diagnoses of and treatment to Covid-19 patients at the current stage and predicted the development of coronaviruses from a macro historical point of view, relieving unnecessary fears and feelings of unease. Dr. Chiou also seized this opportunity to teach the correct way to wear masks and the 7 steps of hand wash, serving the best demonstration of “hands-on” health education and “train-the-trainer” workshop for our potential international volunteers.
